What Causes Swelling And Black Discoloration Of Eye?

My husband had a swollen eye in the evening and the next morning the swelling had gone down, but on top of his eyelid is black and blue as though bruised. He does not recall having hurt his eye and he feels no pain. I have asked him to go to the urgent care, but he prefers to visit a doctor. What is your recommendation? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If he is seeing okay out of the eye then he can go to see his doctor as soon as he can instead of urgent care.
Once he plans to do the visit sooner rather than later.

His doctor can assess and treat and refer him if necessary.

I hope this helps
