What Causes Swelling Above The Ankles?

Hi, the other day I noticed that the inside of my right ankle, above my ankle bone, the muscle/tendon is larger than on my left leg. It almost seems like the muscle is swollen, but I don t remember doing anything to aggravate it. It only feels sore when I press on it. Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Swollen ankle may be caused by ankle arthritis/osteoarthritis, stress/strain/sprain, and tendinitis. Pain/anti-inflammatory drugs like Tylenol and Voltaren gel for local application may help control symptoms. However, I will advise you get the ankle examined by the doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mbuomboh Veranso
