Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I all of a sudden had severe knee pain yesterday and as I walked or straightened my knee, my leg would give out on me and I would collapse. I did not fall or bang it previously to cause this. That has subsided, but I m still in pain and uncomfortable. What could this be? It s not on the knee cap. Almost an ache pain in the back of the leg and around the knee
Sometimes pain in knee joint and area around it can be caused due to different reasons like ligament tear or when one of the muscles around the joint gets pulled.
I would suggest you to see an orthopedic surgeon. After doing a physical examination and related history he will be able to find out underlying cause for the pain.
He might ask you to get some diagnostic tests like Xray of the joint if needed.
Once the results come, he will be able to guide you with appropriate management. He will suggest you some analgesics to get relief from the pain.
As well as you should take enough rest for a fast recovery. He might advice you to see a physiotherapist if needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
