What Causes Sudden Pain In Right Shoulder Along With Upper Back And Chest?

Sudden right shoulder pain/shock and also around my upper back and chest near my shoulder. Not muscle ache but more shock type and did no exercise or strenuous activity. Came out of no where and then goes away for an hour or so and then back again for no reason......just sitting down. Stressful day though

Pain of this type may be due to:-
Lungs or lungs covering infection.
Muscular spasms (most probable in your case).
Gallstones.
Hepatitis and other liver problems.
Hepatocellular carcinoma also presents sometimes with only such symptoms as you prescribed.



Workup needed:-
CBC with ESR and Differentials
HBSAg
Anti HCV
Fasting Ultrasound of right upper quadrant of abdomen visualizing liver, stomach and gallbladder.
XRay chest PA view.


If it had been a muscular pain, it will get better with application of Bengay ultra stretch gel on affected area. Plus take Ibuprofen by mouth. For rest of the Differential diagnoses you have to complete the Investigations and follow-up with reports
