General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The causes of sudden pain in one calf can be one of the following:
- DVT that is deep vein thrombosis
- Muscle cramps
- Sciatica referred pain

This has to be taken seriously unless proved otherwise. I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- Urgent care for clinical examination, evaluation and investigations
- Color Doppler examination to rule out DVT is urgent as this is a dangerous thing and needs earliest possible treatment
- MRI of lower spine of sciatica is suspected by your doctors
- Referral to the specialist as per the cause found for proper management

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
