What Causes Sudden Pain And Swelling In The Knee And Foot Joints?

I have been experiencing periods when random joints become painful and swollen. Normally it happens in my knuckles on my hands but this week it happened in my knee and foot. It happens within a few hours and generally lasts about 5-7 days. The skin is not warm but it is hard to bend the joints. It does not happen often, maybe every few months. I am not diabetic and do not have high blood pressure that I am aware of.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Possibly related to underlying degenerative joint disorder mediated via joint changes through cartilage damage, deposition of crystals and hyaluronic acid pathway.

Basic lab tests, X-ray of the concerned portions of the body help to get detailed input to the possible diagnosis and further care.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
