What Causes Sudden Onset Of Fever, Chills, Cough, Neck Pain, Headache And Dizziness?

Yesterday morning sudden onset fever (101.7), chills. No dark sputum, cough, neck pain or sensitivity to light. Ate in the evening, several hours later threw up. Later developed headache (this doesn t go away), and an ache in my thighs as after strenuous exercise. This morning extreme weakness, dizziness, think I fainted a few times. ( came to on the bathroom floor, took me a little while to figure out where I was; 2 other incidences didn t involve falls) Have been sleeping through; feel better (was able to stand up and go to the bathroom). My husband is here to help. Called my (excellent) doctor ( I am away from home); Thought is to see if it s a virus and resolves on its own.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Based on the sudden onset and severity of your symptoms, it does sound like a viral illness as was mentioned.

Treatment would consist of fluids , rest and symptomatic meds such as paracetamol for the headache and fever.
If the paracetamol is not helping the headache then ibuprofen can be used.

I hope this helps
