Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a registered nurse working at an MCO. I was having trouble concentrating at work today. My thought process got foggy, like I forgot the details of what I do. Then I started feeling lightheaded. I put my head down and it passed. I felt like I was confused during this time. It lasted about 2-3minutes. No vision changes. This happen right after lunch. I am a healthy person, but I did have a carotid anuerysm that was filled about 4 years ago, I rcannot remember the product. I do not get headaches anymore. It concerns me that I got confused and could not think clearly. Thank you.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I suspect you may be having reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia is the general term for having a hypo after eating, which is when blood glucose levels become dangerously low following a meal. Also known as postprandial hypoglycemia, drops in blood sugar are usually recurrent and occur within four hours after eating. It is a sign of prediabetes. You should check fasting glucose levels, postprandial glucose levels and hBa1c.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
