Over the las 3 days I have completely lost the hearing in my left ear. My family practice DR. examined it and said that I had no wax no water but my ear drum looked a little dull. He said I should see a qualified ENT doc and I have an appointment for tomorrow.. The ENT said to my RN wife as she accepted the quick appointment that the primary physician was wise and made a good catch since its probably viral and leaving it untreated could threaten my hearing permanently. What could cause this problem.
Hi, The most common cause of acute hearing loss is Viral infection . The toxins released from the virus will cause acute neuritis to the inner ear cochlear fine nerve fibrills as well Auditory nervous system . In your case both family Dr and ENT Dr acts well for the early diagnosis and early recovery. Check your vaccination status for flu, MMR booster/ chicken pox too. Take care.
