What Causes Sudden Fever And Cough In An Infant?

For the last two nights, at roughly the same time, my daughter has gotten a bit of a fever. It seems to go away after a bit and she never seems sick when it s there. Her nose is runny and she is coughing a bit, but eating and peeing/pooping just fine. She had croup a few weeks ago and a secondary infection on top of that as well. Is this come and go fever something to worry about? My daughter is 2.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter is having sudden fever and cough which could be due to bacterial/ viral infection and due to underlying medical condition. It could be due to poor immunity of body. I would suggest you to take combination of Ibuprofen and Tylenol as it is safe combination and you can take that for your present condition. Drink plenty of water to rehydrate yourself. As fever is of high grade at times so you should do tepid sponging as well. Take diet rich in multivitamins, fruits and take multivitamin tablet as well to boost body immunity. Visit pediatrician once and get complete examination done. You should take cough syrup and avoid intake of cold carbonated beverages.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
