What Causes Sudden Fainting Followed By Bowel Incontinence?
I had an event a couple of weeks ago, where I woke, and as got up I collapsed onto the floor instead.. my muscles all did not work..I don t know how long I was there maybe half an hour or so. My bowels and bladder evacuated. I could not lift even my torso from the floor. After some time I started to get feeling back and I was able to get up and I could move around. I washed and I went to the nurse clinic. But they could not find a cause. They took a CT scan, but just expected neuropathy for my age. I am 82 years male, I have diabetes which is sporadically under control.
Your complaints suggestive of seizure disorder/hypotension/hypoglycemia. I would have been suggested to do MRI brain and EEG. If its in the morning try to sit for sometime and stand because sudden stand can lead to rapid fall in blood pressure and blood circulation will get down to your brain. If you tried that and it is recurrent then go for early morning fasting glucose levels and the investigation I mentioned above.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Hazan
