What Causes Sudden Burning Sensation In Ankles And Knees?

Hi,I have noticed a burning/hot sensation in my ankles and knees. Mostly my knees. It started yesterday after my work day. This has only happened to me one time before this about a month ago. I would like to know what could be causing this and if it is something I need to worry about. Thank You

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sudden burning sensation in ankles and knees . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like peripheral neuropathy , hypertension , vitamin B12 deficiency , kidney disease or venous insufficiency . There can be other problems also like compressed nerve or injury. Thyroid problem can also cause such symptoms .Keep your legs in hot water tub with Epsom salt for 15 minutes daily , lower your salt consumption and keep your legs elevated while lying down . Also apply cold compresses several times a day . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan or x-ray along with blood test and nerve conduction test .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
