What Causes Strong Unpleasant Smell During Urination?

Over the past two months, I have developed very strong, unpleasant smelling urine. There does not seem to be a marked change in color and there is no pain with urination. My medicines have not changed in the past 3 years. Do I need to be concerned?

Hi,

Smell in the urine may be due to dehydration, diabetes or some urine infection etc. Therefore proper hydration with adequate fluid taking is of primary importance. Diabetes, if present should be controlled by proper treatment. Infection of urine may be the primary cause of strong smell in urine. Disturbed balance of good and bad bacteria present in urine may also result a strong smell in urine. Therefore treatment of any urine infection, if present should be done according to culture and sensitivity of urine.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
