What Causes Strange Alcohol Smell In Nose?
Hello. A month ago, I started getting this strange alcoholic smell in my nose. I have no idea what is causing it. I have not been to the hospital recently and I have not had any surgeries. I don t drink and I am not diabetic. May you please tell me the possibilites that are causing this strange smell of alcohol in my nose? Thank you in advance.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have strange alcohol smell in nose. Well the strange smell in nose is also known as 'Phantosmia' which is due to olfactory hallucinations. There can be many cause which can be responsible for strange smell like sinusitis , nasal polyp , dental infection, smoking and exposure to any chemical or radiation. Sometimes nerve dysfunction can also leads to strange smell in nose. Need not to worry.you should maintain complet oral hygine. I would suggest you to do warm saline rinses and gargles . Consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order nasal endoscopy MRI and CT scan. Doctor may prescribe nasal spray like oxymetazoline along with Sedatives, antidepressants or antiepileptic medicine .
