What Causes Stomach Pain, vomiting And Headache In Children?

My 5 year old son woke up this am with a belly ache. He slept way more than usual today and seemed off . He vomited 2 times at 4 in the afternoon and seemed to be a little better, then around 8pm started complaining of a headache and belly ache. He threw up again at 1pm and I noticed what looked like noodles but the were filled with a clear gelatinous substance. His vomit was very phlegmy and now his nose is so congested he can t breathe through it. His stomach is also sore to the touch. Is this an ER event? Or can I wait till morning to hos peds? (Also, he discharged a fire extinguisher yesterday, I was worried about inhalation of the substance, but based on the precautions oN the extingisher and the situation, i didn t feel he was in need of the doc. Then this happened.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is likely that he may have symptoms related to a viral illness. Viral infections can cause vomiting, headache, abdominal pain.

Other symptoms that can occur would be diarrhea, fever, loss of appetite.

The main aspect of treatment would be preventing or treating dehydration and also giving him medication to help with his pain.

You should use oral rehydration packets or pedialyte because these would give back both fluids and electrolytes.

I hope this helps
