What Causes Stomach Pain,vomiting And Black Stool?

Hello. 3 days again I began to have extreme stomach pain that would come and go. I was vomiting and my bowel movements were black but solid. Yesterday I took some peptobismal to no avail. My stomach pains were still there and now my bowel movements are liquid black. I have read something about possible internal bleeding but also black stool could be cause by the pepto. When should I start to be concerned?

Hello,

Pepto-Bismol does not cause black stool and you can started Pepto-Bismol drug later on.

Black stools also called as melena which means we have to send the stool sample to confirm about the blood. Also send blood for CBC and other parameters.

You need an urgent upper GI Endoscopy, colonoscopy and CT scan of abdomen as you have pain in abdomen and other symptoms as you have mentioned.

Clinical evaluation can be done by a Gastroenterologist. All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and proper management.
