What Causes Stomach Pain And Loose Motion?

My 6 year old son has been complaining about his stomach hurting today. He came to me after telling me this, and said he tried farting and had an accident. When I went to check his underwear, there was a small trace of blood and runny bowel movement. What does this mean? Should I take him to the E.R.?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Thanks for posting on HealthCareMagic. Your son seems to have a gastro intestinal infection or gastroenteritis. When there is dysentery, i.e. blood in stool, it is a condition that requires to be treated as the organisms causing the disease can be serious. Give the child ORS to help him regain salt and water balance. And take him to the ER or any pediatrician so that he can treat him with proper antibiotics after a stool examination.

Hope this helps. Feel free to revert back in case of further queries if any.
