Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Stomach Distention, Bloating, Heaviness With Flatulence And Cramps?
I have been on coumadin for two months now and have had some serious boating and heaviness in my stomach. I get very mild gas cramps but it seems to bother me almost every day. The doctors look at me like I m crazy and say that coumdin doesn t cause this and perhaps it is dietary changes. I do not feel as if I have changed my diet significantly since starting the medication but have gone off birth control pills. All bowel movements are normal. Should I be looking into something more serious as a cause?
Hi, Thanks for writing your query. After reading your post, I would suggest that you can take an antacid like Omeprazole 40 mg along with Domperidone 30 mg for relief. A probiotic along with a digestive enzyme preparation containing pepsin and fungal diastase, after meals, will have added benefits. Avoid milk products and gas producing foods like cabbage, peas, legumes, etc. Also drink lots of water daily.
If the problem persists, you should get yourself clinically examined and investigated by a Gastroenterologist. An Endoscopy/Colonoscopy along with stool examination may be helpful.
I hope this is helpful to you. thanks.
