What Causes Stomach Discomfort And Feet Imbalance While On Metoprolol ER?
I was prescribed 125 MG Metoprilol ER for high BP when I was tested while visiting my husband who was hospitalized and I was 190 over 78. I was previously on 50 MG and under control with readings from 130 over 78 to 142 over 82 for the last 3 years. I am 66 so I met with my doctor in early January and he prescribed an initial 100 MG for 30 days. The BP came down to around 167 over 78 so he increased it to 125 . He actually wanted to try 200 MG but I was not comfortable with the idea of that much. Any way, my stress load was pretty high but starting to decline and during the next 30 days I tolerated the 125 MG well with only getting sleepy tired in the morning. After starting the next 30 day series ROUND 10:30 am on 03/03 my ears blocked and I couldn t unblock them, so taking a phone call was hard to hear. After 90 minutes or so they gradually unblocked. Later around 6:30 PM It happened again , only it was accompanied by a wooshing sound mostly in the right ear and when I had to walk to the buffett I felt wobly at times. Saturday morning I took the meds around 10:30 instead of 9:00 AM . Around 3:00 PM the symptoms started up again and didn t clear up until around 9:00 PM. I omitted the meds on Sunday 03/05 but my stomach felt queasy and at times felt unstable on my feet. Is this a bad side effect? Advice?

What Causes Stomach Discomfort And Feet Imbalance While On Metoprolol ER?
Hi, The stomach discomfort is due to gastritis induced by the medication. The feet imbalance is suggestive of peak level effect of the metoprolol when there is a significantly low level of blood pressure. In my opinion, you require precise dose adjustment with an addition of antacid or PPI as per the physician choice. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
