Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 16 yr old son is very sick he has bad stomach cramping and vomiting and chills can t hold down liquids. He looks pale and weak. A restaurant in our town got shut down yesterday afternoon for major food poisioning, we ate there the day before they got shut down, but I didn t get sick... Help a mom..
Since there is already a history of food poisoning from the foods in a restaurant where you all ate and your 16 year old son got the same that is food poisoning. Hence the stomach cramps, chills and its complications.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- Take him to the ER for clinical evaluation, examination, investigations like CBC, Electrolytes, kidney functions so that an appropriate prescription based medications can be started along with Intravenous fluids, symptomatic and supportive therapy. Since vomiting is there, he may not be in a position to take any oral intake hence the need for admission.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
