What Causes Stomach Ache Along With Low Grade Fever In A Child?

My 9 year old son is experiencing stomach pains that seem to come and go regularly since yesterday evening. He had been running a low fever which has now spiked to 102. He has had diarrhea and has been vomiting. I am assuming that he has a stomach virus. At what point should I take him to a doctor?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of stomach ache along with low grade fever which seems to be due to gastroenteritis, irritable bowel syndrome and viral infection . I would suggest you to consult pediatrician for proper examination . Doctor may order stool test and take history to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe omeprazole , laxative antibiotics like albendazole and antacid. Avoid intake of outside food. Drink plenty of water. Take probiotics in diet. Avoid excessive eating at one time.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
