What Causes Stinging Sensation On The Lips?

For several weeks, i've experienced a stinging sensation in my lips. They are not chapped, as I use moisturizers throughout the day and at bedtime. Within the past week, the corners of my mouth appear chapped and crusty, though I keep them moisturized as well. Might this be due to a deficiency of some sort, or might I be using lip balm too frequently? Thanks!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of stinging sensation on the lips along with chapping of lips which is mainly because of nerve damage or dysfunction as if it is simply chapped lips and any kind of viral infection then it would have been resolved. Need not to worry. It could be due to folliculitis as well.

I would suggest you to visit dermatologist once and get it examined properly and start treatment accordingly. Apply unscented burt's bees balm on your lips at bedtime. Apply ice cubes or ice pack pressure for 5-10 minutes after every hour. Take diet rich in yogurt and multivitamins, it will give soothe effects. Avoid intake of sharp and spicy food. Apply apple cedar vinegar on it or dip cotton in tea tree oil and apply on this area, your symptoms will start resolving.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
