Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 63 year old white male. I have enjoyed good health and I see my doctor annually and all my numbers are within specified ranges ( blood pressure, cholesterol , triglycerides etc). I do take a statin daily and my doctor has me take a baby aspirin daily. My complaint is chronically cold and slightly numb toes on both feet. The toes are also periodically stiff and slightly sore. Wondered what may be making my toes so cold.
Brief anser: Get clarity on use of statins and consult GP..
Detailed answer: Hi... Thanks for asking us... First thing ABOUT STATINS.. If your lipid profile and cholesterol is within limits why are you using statins? You are advised to use statins and asprin.. it indicates you have some heart related issue.. please get clarified with your physician on why you are taking statins..
ABOUT NUMB TOES Its called Raynauds syndrome..caused either a problem with nerves which again has many causes like diabetes, hypertension, vitamin deficiencies, immune disorders etc or a problem with blood vessels like fat in vessels, blocked vessels etc.. So you need to consult general physician for complete evaluation for cause.. if there is a cause he will treat it.. sometimes you can have raynauds syndrome for no reason.. then he can give you medication which relaxes vessels giving relief to your symptoms...
