Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
In past few months I am getting sharp knife like stabbing pain in my fingers. It doesn t last but a minute or so but while happening I can t move fingers til pain eases. Now I m noticing my knuckles in those fingers are getting knotty looking. What is this painful incident?
The stabbing pain in fingers do indicate nerve compression issue secondary to some sort of pathology of the joint capsule or joint itself. The knuckles look difference indicates possible tophi formation or deposition of extra articular foreign body from arthritis type issue. However, if you can provide an x-ray of the hand for further reference, I can guide further precisely in this regard.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
