What Causes Spotting And Pain During Urination After Having Plan B Pill?

I took the plan b pill, and about three days later I started bleeding which is fine I think that s normal, but on the fourth day went to pee as soon as I woke up. I had a pretty bad burning sensation when I was peeing, and kind of a sensation that i had to continue peeing when i was finished. A couple of days have passed and it s gotten slightly better as in it doesn t hurt as bad, and it doesn t happen everytime I pee. Is that s side effect of the plan B pill or should I go get checked for a UTI?

Hi
Welcome to HCM.
I appreciate your concern for the safety of Plan-B pill.

If properly executed i.e., use of Plan-B as early as possible but within 72 hours of unprotected sex, it is effective in preventing unwanted pregnancy.

The most common side effects of Plan-B include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain (cramps) headache and menstrual irregularities in the form of bleeding or spotting which occur due to hormonal imbalances.

However, in view of your problem of burning urination there is a strong possibility of urine infection involving the urinary bladder.
Take plenty of oral fluids, you may also to take Sodium citrate solution which reduces the painful urination.

If the symptoms do not subside, get the urine analysis done and visit a doctor for a possible course of antibiotics to eradicate the infection.

Hope these suggestions could be useful in getting the treatment for urinary tract infection.

Wishing you good health.

A feed back is highly appreciated.
