What Causes Sporadic Pain In The Middle Finger?

My left middle finger is very tender in the morning but after the movement of washing my hands the pain subside quite a bit. But after a period of inactivity the pain is back again. Actually when I close my fingers or make a fist the middle fin takes time before it straighten out again. Is this some kind of arthritis or ganglion cyst please? Comparing the base of my left middle finger to the right one I notice it s somewhat swollen & tender to the touch.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
hello there
welcome to health care magic.

after going through your history I think you have got trigger finger. it's a condition whether there is inflammation of the tendon .

I recommend you take some over the counter analgesics like diclofenac two times a day. If you are not allergic to it. usually it resolves. If it does not get relieved within 3 days. get consulted to an orthopaedician and get xrays done for further management.

I hope this solves your query.
happy recovery.
