What Causes Spike In BP?

I have just been to BP clinic and the nurse said she could hardly hear my blood pressure with the stethoscope? But she took it with an electronic one and by that time my BP was 152/80? She said I may have become tense which would account for it. But what is the reason for quiet BP?

HI

Thanks for posting your query.

Quite sounds or difficult to auscultate ( hear ) blood pressure sounds could be either due to low blood flow through the arm or due to stiffness of the blood vessels through which blood flows.

Low blood flow can be due to low blood volume due to dehydration or due to cholesterol accumulation inside blood vessels . Stiffness is due to normal aging process.

I would say that there is no need to give any importance for quite BP. Just get your cholesterol checked ( if not checked recently )

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask .
