What Causes Spasms In The Lower Back And Numbness In The Thighs?

I went into a clinic yesterday, suffering from lower back spasms that have radiated to my left hip and my upper left thigh. The thigh is numb to the touch and is the most painful part. The PA prescribed 2mg valium x4/d and 20mg piroxicam. I am still in pain on day 3 and haven t slept much in 3 days. Is there anything else I can do? I am heating/icing the back periodically but the pain is too much to bear and I cannot get comfortable.

Hello
Welcome to
Healthcaremagic.com.
It seems to me you have sciatic nerve compression.
It is very painful and associated with numb sensation.

You need to have as much rest possible as you can.
Sleep on not too soft bedding.
Don't move too much. Have your all meals or other stuff done on your bed.
You must continue the medication and if you feel too annoying you can consult your doctor. He may add some NSAID analgesics too.

Hope you will be healthy soon.
Regards..........
