What Causes Sores On The Corner Of The Lips With Discoloration Of Lips?

For a few months now my lips get very raw like as if sunburned and sores in the corners and it makes it very painful to talk, eat and smile. I have used all over the counter lip ointments but it only helps but does not go away. I am a women age 51 what can be some possible reasons or what can I do?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. It seems that you are suffering from angular cheilitis if corners of the mouth are sore and ulcerated.

Angular cheilitis occurs due to iron and Vitamin B complex deficiency. I would advise you to start iron (Tonofolic Z) and vitamin B complex (B-Folcin) once a day for about a month.

If the problem persists after a month, then you should seek consultation of a dermatologist for clinical examination and further investigations.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
