What Causes Sores All Over Head After Using Anti Dandruff Shampoo?
My diabetic daughter has dandruff. She has gone to the dermatologist who has prescribed a shampoo ketokeazol or something like that. It seemed to work for a bit but now when she showers with it she has oozing sores all over her head that crust over. Could the shampoo be causing this?
It can be very much due to shampoo only while other causes can be infection caused by bacteria causing Folliculitis or hair follicle infection..
I would suggest you to consult a Trichologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood tests and micorscopy of scraping from scalp can help in diagnosis..
You can be advisd to apply steroid lotion over the scalp along with antibiotic ointment or lotion.. Wash the scalp with cold water.. If there is itching take antihistamines like Levocetrizine..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..

As per your complain it seems that sores all over the head after using Ketoconazole shampoo that is an anti-dandruff seems to be due to allergic reaction causing Contact Dermatitis..
