Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Both sides of my throat are tender near my throat. The sides of my throat have white puss. Howver, I do not feel ill. What can this be and how do I treat it. I noticed it two days ago. I am on vacation and not near my family doctor. I am 65 and have had my tonsils out.
from your description it seems like pharyngitis... it can be because of many reasons but bacterial and sometimes fungal infection are most common....
well for the treatment do the following....
maintain oral hygiene tab azithromycin 500 once daily for 5 days tab fluconazole 150 twice daily for 7 days gargle with mouthwash twice daily
if it does not respond to the above treatment, a throat swab has to be taken and sent for culture....the treatment plan can be modified according to the report...
hope this was helpful...
