What Causes Soreness In The Tailbone Area?

When I woke up this morning, my tailbone was a little sore, as though I had fallen in a seated position. But I have had no fall nor recent strenuous activity. The pain has increased steadily throughout the day (my work involves sitting, walking, standing). It hurts when I sit down and rest my tailbone on the chair. It hurts if I stand and move my pelvis forward. It s not a lot of pain. I m a 57 year old male in good health.

this usually happens to prolonged sitting on a hard surface or an unnoticed trauma.... avoid sitting on hard surface and use a cushion, avoid sitting too much. take a simple analgesic. pain will go away in a week or two... if it doesn't, consult you doctor
