Hi,

You can do several things to reduce the frequency of sinus infections and alleviate symptoms when they occur.
* Keep your nasal passages moist: Use a humidifier or saline nasal spray to keep your nasal passages moist.
* Avoid irritants: Avoid things that can irritate your nose and sinuses, such as cigarette smoke, strong perfumes, and chemical fumes. Keep your hands clean: Regularly wash your hands to reduce the spread of germs.
* Treat allergies: If you have allergies, take steps to control them, such as taking an over-the-counter antihistamine or seeing an allergist for more specific treatment.
* Use over-the-counter pain relievers: Ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help to reduce pain and inflammation.
* Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of fluids can help to keep your nasal passages clear and reduce sinus pressure.
* Rest and relax: Get plenty of rest and try to reduce stress.
* Consider decongestants: If your symptoms are severe, consider using over-the-counter nasal decongestants or nasal corticosteroids.

You should consult a doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen despite these self-care measures. He may recommend further treatments such as antibiotics or nasal irrigation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

You are experiencing sore head all along the sinus area. You are also having pain and fuzzy feelings. Soreness in the sinus is commonly caused by allergy, inflammation and irritation of the sinuses and the mucosa of the surrounding area. The inflammation leads to swelling that in turn blocks the mucus and prevents it from draining (congestion). The sinuses become inflamed and hence painful.

Nasal rinses, warm compress and taking acetaminophen, one stat when pain may subside symptoms and make you comfortable. Get clinically examined by an ENT, you may need allergy medications and antibiotics if bacterial infection is detected. Your treating ENT will do allergy test, get samples from your nasal and sinus discharge for cultures to detect bacterial infection.

If positive it will be treated with a course of antibiotics. The treating doctor may order for CT / MRI / X-ray to be done to detect nasal septal deviation, polyps, tumors or fungi, etc. You will be accordingly treated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
