What Causes Soreness In The Legs And Wrists?

my daughter is 15, she starting showing symptoms of sore legs about a month after returning from Kenya last summer. Labor day weekend she started with a high temperature, strange rash on body and stiff/sore ankles, knees, elbows, wrists, and back. Ended up in hospital for 5 days. she still has very painful back and knees. we ve tried massage, chrio and physio. nothing is really helping. she misses classes, especially morning classes as she can t move when she wakes up, so much pain. doctors thin it could be from her melfloquine medication for Kenya, also thin symptoms are fibromyalgia like. any thoughts??? Daughter has stopped her love of dance and almost everything in her life including friends, just going to school.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an early sign of arthritis.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
