What Causes Soreness In Left Arm After Taking Benadryl As A Sleep Aid?

Hi. I took Walgreen brand Benadryl about an hour ago in hope of it working as a sleep aid. Unfortunately, I am wide awake and am experiencing a soreness in my left arm--as if the muscle had been punched incredibly hard a while ago and is still recovering. I m wondering what caused this. My mother apparently is allergic to the dye in it and gets a rash--I m starting to feel an itch in that side of my body too, but am wondering if it s caused by my concern. Do you think the red dye is the direct link? Funny that an allergy medicine would cause me allergies.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
It is unlikely that your symptoms are related to the drug intake. It might be due to some injury or bad posture during sleep. But it requires an examination to confirm the diagnosis.
Hope this helps.
Take care
