Hello,
I can understand your concern. It seems that the problem with the throat and with the mouth opening are different problems and although the areas are near, they are not related. It seems just a co-incidence that you are having problem in oral cavity after a week of
throat infection.
If you have an impacted third molar or wisdom tooth, this type of pain in tongue and difficulty in opening mouth can ensue.
Impacted tooth means a tooth that wants to erupt into oral cavity but lack of physical space or its difficult position is not allowing it to erupt and it is causing pressure from inside resulting in pain. Alternatively, this could be a problem with the
TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) that is responsible for opening and closing of jaws along with side to side movements.
Thus, I would advise you to visit a
dentist or oral & maxillofacial surgeon for clinical examination and further investigations such as x-ray. If third molar is the cause of problem, then its extraction is advised. Problems of TMJ can be treated depending on the specific problem diagnosed.
If you are in much pain right now, you can
Ibuprofen 400 mg or
Ketorolac 10 mg up to three times a day for relief.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best,
