Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sore tongue and loss of taste buds while on Metformin which seems to be due to most common adverse effect while on metformin as it causes indigestion and metallic taste in the mouth.

I would suggest you to consult your physician once and get it examined and go for alternative course of medication. avoid eating spicy and heavy food specially at night. Do warm saline gargles.Take meal at least one hour before going to bed. Drink plenty of fluids and apply numbing gel on tongue and take fresh fruits in diet.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
