What Causes Sore Throat With Low Grade Fever And Vomiting?

Hello. 5 yr old daughter complained of mild sore throat yesterday morning no fever until this morning but still low grade at about 99.2. Threw up very little this morning. Should I have her tested for streptococcus? Or should I wait and see if she gets high fever. Also is it possible to know result of streptococcus test before we leave office it does it take awhile to have result? She also is congested slightly in chest. Thanks.

Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. Without fever and once throwing up doesn't mean its bacterial infection of the throat. But i would answer your questions further -
1. You can get her tested for sore throat with a rapid antigen test if she gets a very high fever and if her throat is fiery red and tonsils are enlarged.
2.It is possible to know the results of the rapid antigen test for streptococcal infection within 10minutes.
Cough and cold are viral 95% of the times in children. For cold you can use anti-allergics like cetirizine and for nose block, saline nasal decongestants will do. Paracetamol can be given in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly.
