What Causes Sore Throat, Blood In Cough And Chest Pain?

I began having a sore throat and drainage a week ago. My upper chest hurts and I have a serious cough - violently at times. (My ribs and stomach are sore from coughing.) Yesterday, I coughed up green stuff with a tiny bit of blood in it. I have been taking amoxicillin and a worthless cough medicine. Is the blood something to worry about?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sore throat, blood in cough and chest pain which seems to be due to upper respiratory tract infection and spread of infection from respiratory tract to to lung and cause lung infection. You should avoid intake of outside food and avoid cold carbonated beverages. I would suggest you to visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should go for throat swab test and get blood tests done and start treatment after proper diagnosis. You should do warm saline gargles. You should take steam inhalation. You should take antiallergic medication such as Levocetirizine. Take proper course of antibiotic along with mucolytic agents.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
