The feeling of swollen throat and white tongue can be due to yeast infection known as Oral Thrush or Candidiasis..
When it extends at the back of tongue it can also cause infection in throat leading to formation of white patches as well as congested and swollen feeling..
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in confirming the cause.
If thrush is confirmed anti-fungal medicines like Nystatin mouthwash, clotrimazole lozenges and taking ample of probiotics like Yoghurt and garlic will be advised for 15 days and in case of no improvement in 15 days oral antifungals like Fluconazole and Itraconazole will be advised..
Hope this helps..
