What Causes Sore Throat And Swollen Lips While On Sulfasalazine For Psoriatic Arthritis?

I have been taking sulfasalazine for psoriatic arthritis for nearly 10 weeks with no noticeable effect other than sore throats in the evening, swollen lower lip and several fresh patches of psoriasis (noticeable because I haven t had fresh patches for about 20years). 1) Should I change to methotrexate and 2) How does cocaine effect the treatment or condition itself?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history, you are suffering from Urticaria and Angioedema.

My treatment advice is:
1. Avoid fast food and food with artificial colors for 2 months.
2. Apply a soothing lotion like Calamine lotion on affected region twice daily.
3. Take an antihistamine medicine like Levocetirizine drug for 7 to 10 days.

If the problem persists, then consult a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
