What Causes Sore Throat And Neck Pain?

Hi, I have a strange pain in the right side of my neck, towards the front, just under the jaw. It hurts to touch, hurts when I swallow but is not the same as a sore throat, and hurts when I run or clench my jaw. It is very specific, I can put my finger right on the pain. I have no idea what it is. Please help.

Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Sore throat with pain in neck as you describe... increased while swollowing.... is due to inflammation of toncils...naturally occuring glands in neck or adenoids near it.
Inflammation can be allergic,/viral or bacterial infection.
Eat light nutritive diet,drink plenty of warm water.Do hot water gargles with a pinch of salt in water.
Avoid spicy.. oily or ice cold things. Avoid known aklwrgens ( including dust.. fumes.. smokes.. pollens... )
Take anti inflammatory pills like Ibuprofen twice a day &anti allergic pill like cetrizine once at bed time after food...over the counter.
If no relief in 5 days or in case the pain i creases/there is fever... consult family physician for antibiotics.
