What Causes Sore Throat And Nausea?

Dear doctor, For the last 2 weeks I ve been felling nausea, sore throat and some muscle pain, especially some stiffness in the neck. In the beginning I thought I had caught a cold, and I ve been doing my life as normal, but as the days gone by, all these symptoms still persist. I m a 34 year old Caucasian female, and I have had many colds and flues including tonsil inflammations through my life (never with nausea). I have had also sinus infections and have chronic rhinitis. Therefore, I can tell the difference between a cold/flue from a sinus or allergy issue. What s out of the ordinary is this constant nausea and feeling generally unwell. Early this year I went to my ENT doctor for a check up and also because I had a lump on my neck (next to the throat on the right side). He checked and said that was only a gland and not to worry about it. Not sure if it s related or if I should check again, but the lump is still here and it seems a bit bigger. Any advise on this? Should I go back to the ENT specialist or to my GP? Why am I feeling nausea and sore throat at the same time? I also don t have any fever. Thank you for your attention. Best regards, Luisa Araujo

There are multiple problem may be sore throat and nausea. Viruses and bacteria lead the list of factors that commonly cause sore throat and nausea. Environmental allergens, disease, and medication can also make a person nauseated and give him or her a sore throat either together or separately. Patients undergoing cancer treatments often complain that chemotherapy can induce sore throat and nausea, while radiation for cancer generally produces nausea. These symptoms typically last between 24 hours and three days.
A sore throat can emerge at the onslaught of a common cold virus as a raw, achy sensation in the lining of the throat, most noticeable during swallowing. Severe cases can make it difficult to swallow and frequently occur withphlegm. In addition to the common cold, croup, flu, and mononucleosis are other specific viruses most often responsible for sore throats. Viruses that cause the childhood diseases of chickenpox and measles can also produce raw and achy throats.
Thanks
