What Causes Sore Throat And Cough While On Clindamycin IV?

My 19 year old daughter was on clindamycin IV and p.o for the past 12 + days for bilateral tonsillar abscesses. ENT stated tonils back to normal ~6 days ago, now has a sore throat, mild cough, and a concerning rash. Can the rash be from the antibiotic therapy for 12+ days? Or is it possible to get strep/scarlett fever after the long antibiotic therapy?

Hi,

It is not related to Clindamycin.

You can take analgesics like Acetaminophen and do warm saline gargles for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist to consult an ENT specialist and evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
