What Causes Sore Throat Along With White Patches At The Back Of Throat?

I ve been diagnosed with strep throat and started antibiotics yesterday morning now on day 2. My throat still hurts and white patches are still on my throat. When will this go away? Is the medicin working? I m on penicillin v Also I m coughing up yellow pus is this normal?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain white pustules at the back of throat along with pain in throat seems to be probably due to a severe case of bacterial throat infection known as Strep Throat and as you are already diagnosed with it..
White pustules are pus pockets that further confirms towards bacterial infection..

As it is second day of taking antibiotics you need not to worry as the pustules or white patches can take a longer time that is 4 to 5 days to about a week to resolve..

You should continue taking antibiotics and along with it you can also do the following remedies for faster relief..
Along wit antibiotics and pain relievers like Ibuprofen doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room can be very much relieving.
-You can also suck throat lozenges to soothe the throat..
-Gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
-Gargle with antiseptic solution like few drops of betadine in water..
-Chew Vitamin C pellets to boost up the immunity..
