What Causes Soft And Swollen Area Above The Collarbone?

Soft, swollen round area just above the collar bone on the left side near the base of the neck since last 4 days. It is not painful and the area is not red. I do not feel a lump when I press it. I affected with RA . I am taking the table. I am also a RA patient since last 2 years. I am taking the Methotrexate 7.5 mg tab for weekly once.

Hello,

A soft swelling or lump just above the collarbone most likely represents a lymph node, also known as supraclavicular lymph node. Usually lymph nodes are signs of inflammation, infection or other processes. If lymph node does not resolve within two weeks you must see a doctor to have it evaluated and rule out more serious causes. Another possibility is a cyst or a lipoma, both commonly harmless. These conditions however do not appear suddenly but rather progress in slow growth over time.
