What Causes Small Spots And Yellowness In Fingers While Suffering From Diabetes?

Hi, My primary care Dr. wasn t sure what is wrong with my finger nails. He thought it might be an a-typical yeast infection, since I have diabetes. It starts with tiny little spots/holes in my finger nails and progresses to yellow-ish nails with scaling on them. The nails break easily also. Do you have any idea what this might be? I ve tired 2 months of Rx cream for the yeast infection.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

If it is a fungal infection of the nails then it would only respond to oral medication.

Fungal infections of the nails (finger nails or toe nails) or scalp require oral medication.
These infections do not respond to topical medication only.

Eg of oral antifungals are fluconazole, itraconazole, terbinafine

I hope this helps
