What Causes Small Red Blotches On The Thigh After Taking Levoxyl?

Good day. recently blotches of red appear from my thigh down to and under my patella If I put my legs up, the blotches disappear. I started a new medication called levoxyl for a hypoactive thyroid. I do not believe that has anything to do with the blotches; because I started the medication on December 28, 2015. They look like hives. Please help? I do not see any credentials!!! General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you have been taking Levoxyl, hypersensitive reactions can occur resulting in skin rashes.

However, other medical conditions that can cause such symptoms are contact dermatitis, heat rash, razor burn, pityriasis rosea or STD infections like syphilis, herpes, etc.

You are suggested to get clinically examined, assessed & treated at the earliest. You will have to get STD tests done to stay on the safer side.

You can take a course of antifungals & also apply ointment containing antifungals(Clotrimazole, miconazole ) topically.

Take non-sedating antihistamines, Levocetrizine, once daily for 3-5 days.

Keep the area dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothes, maintain low BMI, avoid sharing toiletries, maintain hygiene.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
