What Causes Small Hole In Between Buttocks?

I have a small hole, that is located on the beginning of my butt crack. Doesn t hurt, but bleeds and doesn t seem to be scabbing? What is it? Also I had my mother look at it and she says it could be a mole that was scratched, but I don t have a mole there; although there is a black ish dot near it that looks like it could be under the skin, but when I try to squeeze it out or if I touch it, nothing happens.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
Thank you for contacting HCM.

From the description that you are giving that hole appears to be Pilonidal Sinus. Sinus is simply a channel or cavity.
Pilonidal Sinus may not cause any noticeable symptom unless it becomes infected. To avoid infection I would suggest you regularly shave that area, wear loose clothing to avoid any friction and maintain very good hygiene.

In case of infection which presents itself as painful lump, pus or blood discharge, I would recommend you consult your local physician for clinical evaluation and further management accordingly.

I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns.
Wishing you good health.
