What Causes Slurred Speech And Weak Hands With Elevated ESR Levels?

I have confused many doctors. I have had numerous problems that no one can explain. I have difficulty swallowing, slurred speech, weakness in my left hand. I was told that I had a nonspecific autoimmune disease by a Rheumatologist and a neurodegenerative disease by a neurologist. I started IVIG treatments and saw some improvement. My HLB 27 was positive as well as an elevated thyroid per oxidase AB level. Was started in Imuran. WBC dropped to 2.0. Stopped Imuran 5 weeks ago. WBC is still low and ESR continues to rise and is now 40. Any thoughts on why WBC would not have recovered or why ESR is climbing?

Hello There

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that slurred speech can be related to acute brain stroke and require proper evaluation with MRI brain, Kindly get it done and consult a neurologist for further treatment.

Hopefully this information will guide you properly.

Kind Regards
Dr Bhanu Partap
